The Masks of God

He needs not hide who he is.

But HE ultimately decides WHEN you get to see him. God - that's his infallible grace. He decides when his children are able to see him (Matthew 11:27).

But, the 'masks' of God are spread throughout nature. Throughout the naturally perceived world. If you can't see it, God hasn't revealed himself to you. God reveals nothing of lasting value, to sin.

When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have ordained, what is man that you are mindful of him (Psalm 8:3,4).

He binds up the water in his thick clouds, yet the clouds are not broken under it. He covers the face of his throne, and spreads his cloud over it . . . Indeed these are the mere edges of his ways, and how small a whisper we hear of him! But the thunder of his power who can understand (Job 26:8,9,14).

For since the creation of the world his invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse (Romans 1:20).

God wears masks?

Maybe beautiful masks?

These masks are not quite your ‘Phantom of the Opera’ design. Oh no. That’s not how they appear to you.

These masks hide something that you haven’t uncovered.

They hide something you aren’t quite ready to see.

Why? Why are you running from him? Why are you appalled by his beauty and horror? I thought you knew him?

Ah, I see. You thought God had the mask.

It’s you.

Take yours off.
