Search functions on a laptop: A must-have on any device
Any laptop, phone, or tablet with major limitations in search functionality is a deal breaker for me - every time. That's part of the reason I moved to mac. The mac has a 'finder' and 'spotlight' function, which serves as a hub for locating all files stored on the device. This feature is, for the most part, consistent across all apple devices. You simply type 'command + spacebar' on MacBook or iMac devices to bring up the feature, then simply type what you're looking for. On the phone, you simply swipe down from the top of the screen. The best thing about the Apple ecosystem is that it functions the same way across all apple devices, and since your documents are pretty much in the cloud, you get the same files surfacing after searching across all devices! When I'm locating emails from students or faculty, or, when I'm looking for documents worked on last week (for instance), this function saves me a lot of time.
It's always simple functions used intensely, that make the most difference in productivity.
